1. Peacock Gudgeon (Tateurndina ocellicauda)

This small aquarium is a wonderful example of freshwater fish, known for their colorful diversity. It is a unique fish found in Papua New Guinea> The body of this fish looks like an iridescent blue color with bright red and yellow markings. Thus, it is simply a peaceful fish, which makes it a perfect candidate for community aquariums. It is a durable fish and lives well in a well-maintained tank and brightens up any home aquarium setup.

Fun Fact: The name “ocellicauda” means “eye-spotted tail,” referring to the black spot on its caudal fin.

2. Killifish (Nothobranchius sp.)

Possibly the most brightly colored species in the world, killifish are decorated with patterns of blue, red, orange and even metallic colors. Their life is short, but they leave the impression of their beauty in your life till the end. Various patterns and designs are found in killifish, which are peerless and conspicuous just like watercolor compositions. They can stand a wide range of water conditions. Thus, they are perfect for use in different aquarium setups.

Fun Fact: Some species of Killifish lay eggs that can survive in dry conditions and hatch when water reuters.

3. Ram Cichlid (Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi)

These tiny, super successful cichlids from South America have a turquoise blue body with golden-yellow heads and eyes. These fish have a very high intelligence level and are able to recognize their owners. They are quite peaceful and can easily be kept with other non-aggressive fish. Their ability to interact with the environment and even their owners’ curiosity will make them popular fish among aquarists.

Fun Fact: Monogamous, Ram cichlids share very strong bonds.

4. Endler’s Livebearer

Endler’s livebearers form just like guppies, but little and much more colorful with shiny blue, orange, red and green. They are very lively and easy to maintain, making them great fish for new aquarists. These guys reproduce like crazy, and it is that flashy, sparkling activity that keeps one buzzing while watching the aquarium.

Fun Fact: Endler’s Livebearers were found in Venezuela and were left nearly extinct in the wild.

5. Blue Neon Goby (Stiphodon Atropurpureus)

This small freshwater goby is uniquely blue and almost glows under certain light conditions. It is indigenous to Asia Where it will make for a good algae eater and peaceful tankmate. They are possible creatures of grace that swim through aquariums because of their long slender bodies and subtle movements of their fins.

Fun Fact: Male Blue Neon Gobies are Usually more vibrant in coloration than females. They also use that brightness in color as a means of attracting mates.

6. Celestial Pearl Danio (Danio Margarittstus)

These fish are popularly known as Galaxy Rasbora and have a body dark blue as if scattered over it were small pearls depicting a night sky full of stars. The most preferred habitat is a well-planted tank so as to recreate as much as possible their schooling behavior in the wild. Shy yet very active, these fish makes very wonderful additions to the nano aquarium.

Fun Fact: Discovered in 2006, the fish soon became a hot favorite among aquarium hobbyists.

7. Scarlet Badis (Dario Dario)

The small, colorful fish is considered to be one of the best in the hobby for nano tanks due to its bright red-orange colors and strong, interesting behaviour. Unlike the majority of other small fish, the Scarlet Badis have completely unique personalities and quite often seem to be really curious about the happenings in their environment. They do not tolerate an open tank; they need a well-structured aquarium and excellent hiding spots.

Fun Fact: While breeding, male Scarlet Badis exhibit even higher coloration than females.

8. Clown Killifish

A rocket in miniature form, the Clown Killifish has a bold and yellow striped dress-up and bright blue eyes. Their small size and contrasting hues make these fishes one of the most interesting species to watch. These fish tend to live on the surface of the water and can frequently be seen gliding along that surface, waiting for food to come to them.

Fun Fact: These fish are very good jumpers, hence they should be kept in a tightly covered aquarium.

9. Green Neon Tetra (Paracheirodon Simulans)

This species closely relates with Neon Tetra, but has a more lustrous greenish-blue glow. Now, it’s even more eye-catching in an aquarium. As school fishes, Green Neon Tetras must be kept in groups, otherwise they will suffer. Their beautiful iridescent coloration changes dramatically under various lighting conditions, adding an astonishing effect to the aquarium.

Fun Fact: Green Neon Tetra prefers a blackwater environment, where it’ll have a browning tint in the water from decaying plant material and other tannins.

10. Panda Corydoras

It is the most white and black fish that can fight to have a position in multihued fishes because of the panda-like markings and the sheer joyfulness for having these fish. They are community bottom fishes that must always be kept in groups. The quirky movements and friendly attitude of these little critters are a joy to watch.
