Normally, fishermen catch fish in the wild. Fishermen use manual collection methods, spearing, netting, angling, and trapping. Other aquatic animals including mollusks, cephalopods, crabs, and echinoderms can be caught using the term fishing. Fishing is the sport of using a rod, line, and hook to capture fish in freshwater or saltwater. Similar to hunting, fishing's primary purpose was to supply food for survival.
